When someone says, "I do not believe there is a God," they often act like the matter is unimportant to them. The most frequent excuse given is that there is no evidence that God exists. There is abundant evidence, and someone who makes the "no evidence" claim is, to be blunt, dishonest.
The most egregious example of intellectual dishonesty in my experience is from a professing atheist who insisted that Christians do not provide evidence that God exists. When it is given, he refuses to look at it. Than he repeats his lie that Christians give no evidence!

It sounds plausible at first, and a Christian may be tempted to operate by their rules and standards, but that is actually denying what the Bible says! Also, making an extra effort to provide them evidence for the Creator is also letting atheists control the conversation and to continue to suppress the truth.
Indeed, there have been atheists on record saying that if they were given proof of God that meets their standards, they still would not worship him.
As Christians, we love people and desire for them to be saved. We pray for their salvation, we share the Gospel with them, and we urge them to repent of sin and trust in Christ. And we try to remove intellectual stumbling blocks. But many Christians often make a critical mistake: they assume that what the unbeliever says about himself and his beliefs is true. They assume that the unbeliever has correctly evaluated his own beliefs and has truthfully stated them.
