While scanning posts by Why?Outreach on Fascistbook, I saw a post about the New Age in the church. A few years ago, New Age materials were very popular. There were seminars, celebrities who channeled spirits, UFOs, astrology, and other things. Meditation was a big deal.
Some of the excitement seems to have faded lately and things have been rebranded. There are people who will say, "I am not religious, just spiritual." Well, they are religious about this "new" pagan and Eastern religious stuff, but they reject the God of the Bible.

Jesus warned people in his earthly ministry that deceivers would arrive, pretending to be him (Matt. 24:5). There are warnings of antichrists who deny Jesus is God in the flesh (2 John 1:7). Other New Testament passages warn of false teachers. They are driven by demonic forces and, ultimately, Satan. They disguise themselves as angels of light (2 Cor. 11:14-15).
People want something new and what they think is better. New Age (old pagan and Eastern) religious practices are being brought into the church. We have been warned that this would happen. Something I have been saying for a long time is the importance of worldviews. The biblical Christian worldview is not compatible with occult (that's right, I said it!) teachings.
Those of us who believe the Bible and uphold its authority are viewed as enemies.
Reading the article that prompted this one, I noticed a key point in so much of this: New Age teachings have evolutionary views. Descent with modifications from a common ancestor is often a worldview in and of itself, but it is a part of something larger. Indeed, Charles Darwin did not invent evolution. It is an ancient pagan belief. Biological, cosmological, and other kinds of evolution are a part of the larger picture.
New Age teachings are supposedly to help personal growth; people can evolve spiritually. Unfortunately, they are evolving into something contrary to what is taught in Scripture. Christians must hold fast and focus on the truth of Jesus Christ. I suggest you read "How New Age is in The Church." Note that I do not endorse the entire site, so use discernment. From there, keep your spiritual radar on for aberrant teachings from ostensibly Christian sources.
