Denying Original Sin and the Plain Meaning of the Bible

It is both annoying and baffling how some folks do not want to take the Bible at face value, instead elevating their opinions or secular science views above Scripture. If you study on it a spell, false religions do something similar: We  will tell you what the passages mean, do not think you  can understand it. When someone cites William Lane Craig, I am on guard. While he can dismantle atheism, he has compromised in key areas of Christian doctrine . One of these is original sin. The Garden of Eden with the Fall of Man , Jan Brueghel the Elder and Peter Paul Rubens,1615 I'll allow that the words  original sin  do not appear in the Bible, but other essential Christian doctrines, such as the Trinity, are not found under the names we know. That does not make them any less real. Although Craig mocks original sin (Adam and Eve at the forbidden fruit, and we inherit the sin nature), it is clearly evident from a plain reading of Scripture. This heresy is serious, and people should be very

William Lane Craig: Denying Biblical Truth?

Long ago when I was first becoming serious about apologetics, I followed Dr. Craig. While he could easily dismantle atheism, some things made me uneasy. When it came to ridiculing biblical creationists , I was done. Later, I learned of his belief in molinism  and  dancing around biblical inerrancy . Craig has been garnering attention with his book  In Quest of the Historical Adam , where he bushwhacks not only biblical creationists, but foundational beliefs in Scripture. He has clearly saddled up to ride with the fifth column of theistic evolution and rejection of biblical authority. Unsplash / Aaron Burden (modified) Of course, Craig is not stupid or inexperienced, which makes the downward spiral of his material all the more execrable. Several creationists have analyzed his book and pointed out serious errors in reasoning, and revealing his disdain for the Bible. By my reckoning, to say that Adam was not real when Jesus, Paul, and others in the Bible said he was was, and to relegate

William Lane Craig and Other Genesis Deniers

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen Wisdom itself beings with God (Prov. 1:7), and the Bible is to be the foundation for the Christian's thinking in all areas (Psalm 119:105, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, Rom. 11:33). As we have seen in several articles here and on other biblical creation sites, Genesis is the source of all major Christian doctrines . Some professing Christians as well as atheists, old earth proponents, and other anti-creationists reject the authority of the Bible and attack not only the truth of God's Word, but also the people who take their stand on it. Credit: Pixabay / Jeff Jacobs The Wisdom of the World The Christian's faith is established in God, not in the ever-changing whims of man-made science philosophies. For example, some have joyously stated that proof of the Big Bang validates the Bible, only to have the evidence pulled out from under them. If someone's faith is based entirely on secular interpretations of science, they have little to support their belief

Who Do You Follow, and Why?

— Cowboy Bob Sorensen  This is a partial rant, and may seem disjointed at first. But stay with me, things will fall into place. I've been having a rough time lately ( cue sad song on world's smallest violin ). Although my previous two articles here met with mostly favorable responses (" Hell, Creation and Side Issues " and " Side Issues Part 2 — Information and Discernment "), some antagonistic responses bothered me. Two annihilationists were going after me regarding what I said, dismissing the main points of the articles and inadvertently proving me right: People elevate a pet side issue to primary importance, and will act in a very unchristian manner (including fallacious thinking and ad hominem attacks) to promote it. I took exception to this treatment, and one of the people said: "...Play the ball and not the man. From my website - I encourage you to check out the video message on the fundamentals of mental and emotional health because you&

So You Want to be an Apologist?

by Cowboy Bob Sorensen  This is not a short article, as I was unwilling to derail the train of thought by serializing it. In a classic sketch on Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Mr. Anchovy visited the Vocational Guidance Counsellor, seeking assistance on leaving Chartered Accountancy. Mr. Anchovy boldly proclaimed that he wanted to become a lion tamer!   When the counselor asked about his qualifications, the reply was, “I’ve got a hat…A hat with 'lion tamer' on it … And it lights up saying 'lion tamer' in great big neon letters, so that you can tame them after dark when they're less stroppy.” Worse, Mr. Anchovy did not even know what a lion was — he was confusing lions with anteaters. There are people who want to go into apologetics but only have a superficial idea of what is involved. They have watched videos where people like William Lane Craig show atheists that their philosophy is inconsistent, read some books by C.S. Lewis and other philosophers, hear
